Hello (; today is th eight of April and it marks MSL Concert Band's SYF day. Yup, today i had my first SYF. And i tell you, the feeling was just too hard to describe. Mixture of joy and happiness? haha. And and, Excitement! But i can say, i do gave my 100% today. I never ever play Die Fledermaus with my goosebumps going up. Swearrr! haha. I played with imaginary stuffs inside my mind. cute cute stuffs but yet it doesn't distract me from concentrating on Sir. So, on the Expressivo part thingie tht the part Saxophone section played, i imagine a flower opened then got two fairies inside. After the come out, they dance ^-^ Haha. k. soso, 9-9.15 was our turn to play. I think so. Set piece first, Memories of Friendship <3 This was the first time, i played and my tears NEARLY come out. But, no. hhaha. I hold it. Later people think i dramatic. Then, Die Fledermaus turn! urghh. I really enjoy playing that song on stage with that 4 weird judges with two stands beside them :/ We really rock that stage. Haha. Went out and there were a lot of compliments. Being humble okay. So, i am really touched by the Principle & vice principle of MSL. And also, not forgetting my own PE teacher, Ms tan. Who drop by. Woke up early in the morning just to support us.
Sweeeeet <3! haha. Then, after our performance... Yeah, start again. Girls cried first. Then, spread spread spread. I did not cause i okay only. I save it for later k? (: Lol. then, at last cry also. Idk, i thinking of my seniors. Hoho. listened to the other schools play. Tampines was awesome! :D Euphonium solo was greaat! But they get Silver too :/
Went to school and when we reach, wow. haha, a lot of people coming to us asking how was it. But nahh, the results is not in la! :P Then, went music room. had fun :D The Alumnis also dropped by. to see us perform and waited with us. The plan was acutally Ariffin and Fahna go to the Conference Hall to listen to the results with some of the teachers. Then, the rest all can go back, or either want to stay in the music room to hang around. I went to eat then come back. My mum ehhhhh.-.-' hahaa. Then, pressure alreadyyy! grr. 5.35pm, ms ong called and we get to hear the results live. Then, the announcement goes like this. " Band number 93, Marsiling Secondary School, Silver." omg. I was indeed damn shocked. Balqis beside me burst into tears already. All my friends and bandmates all cry. I cried, but srsly not many. haha, until Nerin hugged me. Aiyoo. So unexpected. After motivational talks from the leaders and alumnis, i feel better. just an award okay! colour only! the memories is what brings us together as a band, playing music and following the flow. Band with a discipline and bonding that no other bands got. We have our own way that is very unique and a spirit that continues from generation to another. since the first batch, year 2000. First SYF was, 2003. We gotten a Silver. Not too bad. 2005, we played Overture Jubiloso, Gold with Honors! :D Year 2007, we played The Seventh Night Of July, Gold! :D year 2009, Der Vogenhandler, GOLD. And year 2011, SILVER.
even this year we drop a step down, look at our achievements. i'm just a junior, but i do look at how MSLBAND grew. I looked at how they performed the first time. And because they inspired me, seriously, i decide to join band in 2010. Continue my sister's name. hehe. Siblings, all cornet. Dhaifina, Dhaimirah & Dahliah.
I know and believe that, the band really enjoyed on stage just now and it was a splendid performance. We blew some of the judges away. but maybe, it is not our luck this year. we have been getting gold & gold with honors all this while, it is not wrong to drop once. Drop doesn't mean we are getting lousier. But, really, no one can win once and sustained it there like forever. there will be a time that we will drop, but we work hard and go higher! ^^ I'm sorry to some of my seniors and alumnis that expected us to get a gold. We did not fulfill your wish. But, dont worry. We are making a come back in 2013! continue supporting us. Your help after this, is not going out of the window, we took it in already and will surely educate the juniors properly. I cannot promise that the section will be tip-top shape. but, the results in 2013 will be better than this. Anyway, the standard of the SYF is getting higher as years gone by. For me, and some others, our hardwork paid off by getting a Silver! :D Yes, im proud of it.
Our hardwork, our scoldings and all the memories we gone through, the ups and the downs, guess what.. We got it with a Silver. Which is like equal to a gold? haha. I am closing my ears to WHOEEVER THAT SAY BAND KENTAL OR LOOKING DOWN ON US, CAUSE I BELIEVED, TODAY WAS THE MOST TOUCHING SYF EVER AND THE MOST MEMORABLE ONE. AND YOU KNOW, MSLBAND REALLY PLAYED AS ONE AND THROUGH THEIR HEARTS. WHATEVER THEY WANT TO SAY, IT WILL GO IN THROUGH MY RIGHT EAR AND OUT FROM MY LEFT EAR. I KNOW, WE DID OUR BEST ON THE STAGE JUST NOW AND THIS IS JUST NOT OUR LUCK. WE ENJOYED OURSELVES AND WE PLAY GOOD MUSIC. tht is what matters.
Band, we have make our mark! I'm also proud of you guys and also my seniors <3! good luck for national exams and do come back and support us. Just take this as a lesson. Like what some say, "our spirit won't fade". Seriously, if anybody just look at MSL concert band left and right, they know that only. But inside, they know nothing! yes, nothing. they know we drop and thats it. They do not know how many months we put in, scoldings, fights and effort! Our bonding changes every practice. From we do not know how to play, till now, we played it well! :D Let's say proudly "MSL band gotten a Silver!" & smile.
